Entry 5: Fresh but not Really

Hey guys this week I was asked by my ENG101 teacher to watch a film called Fresh then write about my thoughts on it. This film was about how farmers are trying to reinvent their crops and do it the best way possible without getting everyone sick. After watching this film, I honestly don't know how to feel about meats and natural foods. There were so many things that could go wrong like food contamination, pollution due to the different fertilizers they use on the crops, and many different diseases you can catch if the animals don't have proper care. Everyone who eats meats or natural foods should care and watch this because you are finding out how they care for these animals and plants. The part that really disturbed me was how the killed the chickens, took them apart, and got them ready to be sold in the stores. This part disturbed me because it was no sanitation within the whole process if I knew this before hand I would of never eaten chicken. Another scene that really had me in amazement was how they just threw the chicks out of the bin on the ground. I didn't really like that because it seemed as if they didn't care if they were hurt or not. Overall this film was very informational regarding our produce and meats. Watch this film all the way through and see if you still want to pick up a chicken wing.

  1. I was not able to watch this film in time but your recount defines it nicely. I think I will still check it out to see how it compares to other documentaries like Super Size Me and Food Inc. However, from your account it seems like this film tries to be more proactive.

  2. Rather disturbing to watch. Even though I had an idea in my head as to the process it would go through, it was more powerful to watch, and it definitely will make you think twice about picking up a chicken wing next time.
